Dear CPU Scorekeeper

I have but 2 questions:
  1. Do you have an all-processor Gigaflops benchmarks page?
  2. Where is the Alpha Processor in your benchmarks?
- - Carlos, February 2000

See the questionCPU Scorekeeper Responds

  1. We do not have an all-processor gigaflops page.
As stated on our Benchmarks page, our CPU Scorecard scores are based upon Intel's iCOMP Index, which is a combined rating of indicators that test integer, application, and floating point application performance. Gigaflops are only one specialised measure of a processor's speed, and their inclusion would not contribute to our goal of providing benchmark rankings that are easy to understand for the majority of computer users.
  2. Though we have begun to include some of Intel's Xeon line of server processors in our CPU Scorecard lists, rankings of other high-end SMP-capable processors will only be added as time permits. Subscribe to our CPU Scorecard Update newsletter (in the left sidebar) to stay current with our latest processor information.
